Daniel Negreanu

One of the greatest poker players of our time, Daniel Negreanu was born in 1974 in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. He is of a Romanian heritage but has lived in the Americas all his life. He is an established player on the poker scene and he possesses one of the most famous faces and personalities on the circuit. He is a popular player with his peers and is renowned for his laidback outgoing character.

Negreanu started to learn the card game at the tender age of 15. He would spend his days playing cards and pool. At just 22 years of age he decided to quite college and hit Las Vegas to try and carve a career in the game. 

In total, Negreanu has got four WSOP bracelets, two WPT titles, a huge amount of final table finishes and many other tournament titles. He reached his peak in 2004 when he was named WSOP Player of the Year and Card Player of the Year.

He is the role model for success and composure for many new players entering the game. His total winnings are estimated to be over $12 million. He has ranked 1st in over 33 events since 1997. He is earning a huge amount of respect from a lot of his poker professional peers by becoming a tutor for the younger players and works ever so hard to promote poker around the world. He is also the main spokesman for the largest online poker room PokerStars.

Despite Texas Hold ‘Em being the game that Daniel Negreanu has gained most exposure from, his favourite style of poker game is NL Omaha 8. After over a decade at the top of the poker game, Daniel Negreanu has cemented his place in poker history with 154 cashes, 47 of those in the WSOP, his light hearted nature and his attitude to life in general. His philanthropy is an example of how generously natured Negreanu is.

He is a true legend to the game of poker and he is insistent on passing his knowledge on to the next generation so they can keep his style and eccentricity within the game long after he has gone. He is one of the best there is, one of the best there was and one of the best there ever will be, and rightly so.
