Bwin to Remain Real Madrid’s Main Sponsor Until 2013
Real Madrid announced Monday that it is extending its sponsorship deal with Austrian gambling company Bwin for three more years. The anchor feature for the sponsorship deal is Bwin’s logo on Real Madrid shirts, but the partnership offers other attractive features to the Bwin, like a prominent ad in the cl,ub’s website. The partnership is a natural step for Bwin, as its’ main business comes from sports betting. Real Madrid is of course one of the leading football clubs in the world, with millions of football fans and global media exposure.
The partnership between the two giants began at the opening of the 2007-2008 football season. It was reported that Bwin paid a hefty sum of € 15-20M for the partnership. Although the terms of the new deal are yet to be disclosed, experts claim that it will bring in more than € 20M for the Spanish club.
“Bwin is a loyal partner which understands sport and especially football”. Said Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, in announcing the lucrative deal. Bwin celebrated the extension of its sponsorship by offering a special bet in its site, based on the question whether the club will win the Champion’s league before June 2013. Real Madrid previous sponsor was BenQ, who went bankrupt.
