The 2009 WCOOP Concluded
After 20 days of sheer pleasure, it’s a wrap up for the 2009 WCOOP. With 44,000 (this is not a spelling mistake…) players from 140 countries, participating in 45 events, all coveting a share of a prize pool of over $51,000,000, this was definitely a one of a kind online event. The biggest and richest online poker tournament ever!
And what better way to end such an amazing spectacle, than in the exciting No Limit Holdem, two day main event. 2,144 players struggled to get a share of a total prize pool of $10,720,000 (exceeding the guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000). 306 of them managed to cash. But it was American Jovial Gent who scored big time in first place, with a payout of $1,715,200. No shame for another American, Udon Wannit, who arrived second, guaranteeing a payout of $1,286,400.
So, who were the biggest winners of the 2009 World Series of Online Poker? It comes as not surprise that final event winner, Jovial Gent and runner up, Udon Wannit are safely positioned as the big cash winners of the entire tournament. Third to come is American djk123,who reached the most cashes (11) and final tables (3) with a little under $1M. Fourth is Norwegian reddevil and fifth is Sumpas from Sweden, both with a little over $900K.
We all know that every good thing must come to an end. But we do have to admit that it was so much fun having the 2009 WCOOP around. Hey, but no worries, the 2010 WCOOP is just 344 days away! So stay tuned….
