Born in Seoul, South Korea, Joseph Cheong is just 24 years old and resides in La Mirada, California. His number one career achievement was accomplished when he came third in the 2010 WSOP main event final table. This is one accomplishment most players wait a life time to achieve. It took this talented player only two years of professional play to get there.
Cheong has crafted a nice career so far, based on his online play. ‘Subiime’, as he is known around the online poker tables has had some notable successes. He is a WSOP Circuit gold ring holder having won $17,000 in the Harrah’s Rincon event in March 2010. He has also won a Full Tilt Poker tournament in July 2009 giving him a winning pay out of over $50,000. In January 2010, he also powered past all his competition to win $23,000 in the Full Tilt $100 Cubed event.
Not such a bad career already for the young man whose poker journey began back in 2007 when he started playing in college with friends at the University of California in San Diego. Playing poker didn't prevent this phenomenon from earning not one, but two degrees from the University of San Diego.
Joseph Cheong is a player with a long way to go in his career and he just seems glad to have won third place in the WSOP, the most prestigious tournament in the world of poker. One thing is for certain, Cheong is an aggressive player who has learnt his trade quickly. He might be relatively new to the poker scene but he is already packed with knowledge, composure and skill.
