The very first British Awards takes place tomorrow, September 13th 2010 at the Kensington Close Hotel in London. Doors open at 1900 hours and it promises to be an evening to remember.
This event, which is an official event of the London Poker Festival, will give fans of the game in the UK the chance to see many of the country’s finest players at close hand, for just £39.
The evening starts with a cocktail party at which keen poker enthusiasts can rub shoulders with some of the greats of the game. Later come the various award ceremonies, which will lead nicely to the award for the player of the year. After the completion of the ceremonies and awards ticket holders will get the chance to play in a one-off £50 no-limit Hold’em tournament against the nominees and other attendees.
As for the awards themselves, Britain’s finest players will be vying for top spot in 11 different categories, including Best Overall Poker Player, Best Tournament Player, Best Cash Player, Best Online Player and Best UK Card Room and the list of nominees include the cream of UK poker talent such as James Akenhead, Chris Moorman and Neil Channing. Best International Player category is a nice add on to the list of Mega stars: Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Michael Mizrachi are just a few of the top tier players nominated under this category.
The hosts for the evening are the ‘Magician’ Antonio Esfandiari and Bluff Europe Magazine’s Michael Caselli. Also there to ensure the evening is a memorable one is comedian Yianni Agisilaou.
