Initiative to Legalize Online Poker in Massachusetts is Halted
Published on Mon, 09/07/2009
Here is some disappointing news for poker players in Massachusetts. Legalizing online poker in Massachusetts will have to wait for at least another year.
Attorney General Martha Coakley rejected petition to submit a bill legalizing online poker in Massachusetts for next year’s state ballot. Coakley claimed that the bill does not meet the legal standards required for the ballot. She also announced all forms of online gambling illegal even though Massachusetts law does not explicitly forbid online gambling.
Coakley has recently announced that she would be running for the US Senate to replace Senator Keneddy who died from cancer last month.
