The 2009 WSOPE Commenced
We barely had time to recuperate from the excitement of the 2009 WSOP in Las Vegas, and already the 2009 third annual WSOP Europe has begun. The tournament offers 4 bracelet events and 2 special events, and will feature a no limit/pot limit Holdem and a pot limit/no limit Omaha games. Although far smaller than its American peer, this year’s WSOPE is bound to be an exciting time for all poker lovers, European and Americans alike. It takes place in Casino at the Empire, London, UK and will run Sep 17 through Oct 1.
The 2009 WSOPE No Limit Texas Holdem main event, with a £10,000 buy-in, is sure to offer some excitement. With last year’s main event offering a net prize pool of more than £ 3.5M, we can definitely expect some fearsome competition for the grand prize.
One very unique and intriguing event in the 2009 WSOPE will be the Casers Cup, where 8 top American poker professionals will compete against 8 of their European Colleagues. The event will be a no Limit Hold’em, and will be based on a heads up and two-man doubles matches with 1 point awarded for each match. Winner is the first team to score 4 points. The event will be played on Sep 25.
Players for the American team include: Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, John Juanda, Doyle Brunson
Players for the European team include: Annette Obrestad, Peter Eastgate, Dario Minieri.
