NHL and Pokerstars Join Forces for a Celebrity Packed Charity Poker

Hockey and Poker come together for a good cause as NHL, the National Hockey League and PokerStars.net join forces to present a charity poker tournament, to host some of the biggest NHL names, along with leading poker professionals and other celebrities. The tournament will be held as a part of the 2009 NHL Awards events taking place, for the first time, in the entertainment capital of the world - Las Vegas.

NHL stars who have already signed in for the event include: Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, Jeremy Roenick of the San Jose Sharks, Mike Richards of the Philadelphia Flyers and Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks.
Poker big names to take part in the tournament include: Greg Raymer and Chris Moneymaker.

The tournament format will be a No Limit Texas Holdem, prizes will amount to more than $150,000, all going to charity. In addition, every NHL player, taking part in the event, will be awarded with $2,000, to give to a charity of his choice.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 17th, at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and will be aired on ESPN channels in the US, TSN in Canada and NHL Network across North America.
